After six months of silence and an estranged relationship with his father, Prince Harry broke his silence and reached out to his father, King Charles III, with a special call on his 75th birthday. Prince Harry telephoned the King to extend wishes on this special occasion. The King also spoke to Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle.

This conversation marked a positive development between the two since April this year, just before Charles’s coronation as King after the Duke of Sussex stepped down from his Royal Family positions. As per the report by The Telegraph, the chat was a friendly exchange that signals a potential thawing in the strained ties.

The UK-based Sun reported that King Charles III remains open to communicating, even extending an open invitation for Prince Harry’s visit to the UK.

However, the daily reported that the phone call was a positive step and a surprise for the King. The two have maintained distance after Prince Harry highlighted several family secrets in his explosive memoir, ‘Spare’.

For those who are under the rocks, Prince Harry labelled his father an emotionally stunted and ineffectual old man in his explosive book. He cast his brother as his arch-nemesis and targeted Queen Camilla as a villain and a wicked stepmother. Harry’s book broke sales records around the world, and his relations with his family only went downhill with the release.

However, Harry later wrote warmly of his relationship with his “Pa”, and in a television interview, he said that he would “always love” him. Prince Harry asserted that he wanted an apology from his family before he could move on, but that apology never came. The situation got worse, and Harry and Meghan were asked to vacate their UK home, Frogmore Cottage.

Prince Harry not invited for Birthday celebrations?

Talking about King Charles III’s 75th birthday, Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two, extended their wishes by recording a video of themselves singing Happy Birthday to their grandfather. The King hosted a birthday dinner at London’s Clarence House on Tuesday night, where he was joined by his close friends and family.

Harry’s absence from the celebration was clarified by his spokesperson. Harry’s spokespersons in the US had earlier dismissed reports suggesting he snubbed Charles’s birthday invite. Later, he asserted that he wasn’t invited and that he had no contact with any of his father’s Buckingham Palace staff.
