The Oscars 2024 took place on March 10 at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles, US. The prestigious event witnessed Jimmy Kimmel return as the host for the fourth time with many firsts also taking place during the ceremony. Several pictures and videos of the event are being widely circulated on social media giving a glimpse of the viral moments from the awards night. Let’s take a look at both shocking and amusing moments from the Oscars 2024.
As the first award of the night Best Supporting Actress was presented to Da’Vine Joy Randolph for her role in The Holdovers, she, in her acceptance speech thanked both God and her publicist. An emotional Randolph, during her speech, said, “I always wanted to be different. Now I realise I just need to be myself.” Her honest acceptance lines led her The Holdovers co-star Paul Giamatti to shed tears, as it can be seen in the video which is now viral on the Internet.
Another viral moment that took everyone by surprise displayed the WWE Superstar John Cena. He presented the Oscar for the Best Costume in a completely different avatar which will be remembered for years. John Cena came nude as he walked onto the stage highlighting the importance of the costume department. Wearing nothing but an awards envelope, Cena said that “costumes are so important” before announcing the winner.
The next viral clip features Emma Stone taking the stage to accept the Best Actress honour for her role in Poor Things. While en route to the stage at the 96th Academy Awards, the actress can be seen trying to cover up a major tear at the back of her gown and saying, “My dress is broken.” “Hoo boy, my dress is broken. I think it happened during “I’m Just Ken.” I’m pretty sure,'” the La La Land actress said before she delivered an emotional speech.
Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling made a starry appearance on the stage to celebrate the contributions of stunt performers. They did not leave the opportunity to play up the supposed rivalry of Barbie and Oppenheimer. Blunt, in the video, can be seen telling Gosling, “I’m glad we can put this whole rivalry behind us. Even though, the way this awards season has turned out, it wasn’t actually much of a rivalry after all.”
