Netflix's Heeramandi: Adhyayan Suman's advice to costar Sharmin Segal: 'Important to not live in a bubble'

Ever since the release of Netflix's Heeramandi, netizens and fans have been showering words of appreciation for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus. However, they are continously trolling Sharmin Segal for her 'expressionless' performance as Alamzeb. While all her costars came out supporting her, Adhyayan Suman shared special advice for the Malaal actress.

“If she is being criticised for her performance, she should come out and speak to people. The audiences are very gentle, they'll give you another chance if they feel you've worked hard,” said Suman while talking to Bollywood Hungama.

He added, "I think it's very important to not live in a bubble. It's very important to accept any sort of reality, not just Heeramandi, per se. It's very important to understand who you are, it's very important to understand whether you have it in you to fight the next 15-20 years. It's important for you to not lie to yourself.”

Earlier talking about her craft, Sharmin told Firstpost, "As an actor for Sanjay Leela Bhansali you have to give your all and be completely blank. In real life I am nothing like Alam as a person. There is something that Priyanka Chopra taught me: she has this switch from one character to another in Mary Kom or Bajirao Mastani where I was the assistant director. She taught me how to go in and out of character. It is an admirable talent that she has and if you can master that on and off switch you are in a very advantageous position. Hopefully, I have done some justice throughout the process because to match up with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s expectation, that itself is a huge task."

Heeramandi also stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari and others in prominent roles.
