Nalli Silks Ad Controversy: Models apply bindi on forehead in new commercial after online outrage
Recently, the models in a commercial by the clothing brand Nalli Silks appeared in traditional outfits but without a bindi on the forehead, inviting social media debate and controversy

Nalli Silks, a prominent clothing brand, came under fire on social media for its latest advertisement. The ad film, which featured a model exuding traditional vibes in a beautiful saree, is facing flak on the Internet. The model’s ethnic ensemble was paired with minimum jewellery and complementary makeup, but she was not wearing a bindi which led to several raised eyebrows.
The bindi is a symbol of good luck and prosperity. Seeing the outrage, the clothing brand shared a new ad film with models donning beautiful bindis. They shared the commercial on Instagram.
The post read- "Embrace the divine spirit of Durga Puja as we come closer to the end of this auspicious Navratri season. Celebrate the vibrant colors, rich culture, and creative expressions as the idols, stories, and your attire weave a tapestry of spiritual significance. Let's embark on a sacred journey, retelling timeless traditions and honoring the divine goddess Durga."
Netizens react to Nalli Silk's latest ad
Netizens used X, earlier known as Twitter, to voice their concerns over the ad. One user wrote, “Look at this advertisement. Even a traditional firm like Nalli is using a model who is not wearing a bindi and looking morose. Doesn’t look like a celebration.”
“First of all wear a Bindi. Nalli! You get most of your business from Hindus, who purchase silk sarees for Weddings, Deepavali Pongal etc and still you try to play this ugly trick. Shameful!” read a comment.
