Merry Christmas Box-Office: Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi-starrer gains momentum, earns Rs 9.73 cr in its weekend

Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi-starrer Merry Christmas finally hit theatres last Friday. After a slow start on the first day, the film gained momentum during the weekend earning Rs 6 crore in two days of its release in India. According to a Sacnilk report, Merry Christmas earned around Rs 3.83 crores on Sunday, taking the total earnings to Rs 9.73 crore in three days. The numbers for the first Monday are, however, yet to be revealed.

Merry Christmas closes in to Rs 10 crore club

According to the Sacnilk numbers, Merry Christmas did a business of 2.45 crores on the first day of its release. The film collected Rs 2.2 crore in Hindi, Rs 0.22 crore in Tamil, and 0.03 crore in Telugu.

Following this, the film earned Rs 3.45 on Day 2 and Rs 3.83 crore on Sunday, 14 January. So far, it has earned Rs 9.73 crore, including Rs 8.8 crore in Hindi, 0.88 crore in Tamil, and 0.05 crore in Telugu.

On Monday, if the collections continue to remain over the two-crore mark, the film can expect a reasonable lifetime total. However, if the numbers fall under Rs 2 crore, it may get difficult for the film to have an extended theatrical run, especially when Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone starrer Fighter is all set to hit theatres on 25 January.

About Merry Christmas

Directed by Sriram Raghavan, Merry Christmas features Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles. Shot in two different languages with different supporting casts, the Hindi version features actors like Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kannan, and Tinnu Anand, while the Tamil version features actors like Radhika Sarathkumar, Shanmugaraja, Kevin Jay Babu, and Rajesh Williams in the same roles.
