Legendary Sufi singer Ustad Pyarelal Wadali, of the Wadali brothers duo, dies of cardiac arrest at 75

Ustad Pyarelal Wadali, of the popular Wadali brothers duo, passed away on the morning of 9 March due to cardiac arrest. He was admitted to Fortis Escorts Hospital in Amritsar, as reported by Hindustan Times.He is the younger brother to Ustad Puran Chand Wadali, and together they formed the iconic Wadali brothers duo, the doyens of Punjabi sufi music in India.Over the years, the Wadali brothers have created a niche space of their own in the vast expanse of Indian non-film music. Their Sufi renditions, bhajans, ghazals and kaafiyaans were popular not just in India but overseas as well.Wadali brothers hailed from a nearby village to Amritsar and began their singing career by performing bhajans at the Harballah temple in Jalandhar.While Puran Chand Wadali was trained under the Patiala gharana stalwarts like Pt Durga Das and Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Pyarelal Wadali got his musical training from his elder brother.They have also sung numerous tracks in Bollywood like 'Aye Rangrez Mere' from the 2011 film Tanu Weds Manu and 'Ik Tu Hi Tu Hi' from Mausam that released in the same year. One of their most famous renditions is the song 'Tu Maane Ya Na Maane Dildaara'.Watch the iconic song here:
