Janhvi Kapoor opens up on being 'alienated' from peers in school, morphed photos

Bollywood diva Janhvi Kapoor has been in the limelight since before her acting debut in 2018 film Dhadak. The 26-year-old star kid, who is the daughter of producer Boney Kapoor and late actress Sridevi, recalled how as a child people took pictures of her. The actress recently opened up about 'relentless clicks and flashes from paparazzi cameras'. In an interview with Newslaundry, the Mili star elaborated on how she was bombarded with pictures alongside her sister, Khushi Kapoor, 'with or without consent'.

On taking pictures without consent

In a conversation with the news portal, Janhvi Kapoor shared how their presence in the public was 'broadcast and dissected'. Recalling an incident as a child, the Bawaal actress shared how she was in grade 4 at 10 years old, when some of her pictures surfaced on the internet. Entering her school’s computer lab, she found paparazzi pictures of her appearing on her classmates' computer screens.

Talking about the same, the actress revealed how she looked "very uncomfortable" and "not groomed" in those pictures. She also mentioned how the headlines announced that she was "being launched" into the film industry.

Not just this, with the digital boom, as pictures started making rounds online, the actress described how this alienated her from her peers at school. She further added that her friends started looking at her 'differently' while poking fun at 'not getting waxed'.

As a teenager, the Dhadak star also shared finding morphed pictures of herself on ‘inappropriate pages’. Given today’s advanced artificial intelligence, the actress shared her concern about an increase in fake images. She added, “People see these manipulated images and assume they’re real. That deeply concerns me.”

Work Front

Work wise, Janhvi Kapoor was last seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Bawaal opposite Varun Dhawan. The film was mired in controversy over trivialising the suffering of Holocaust victims.

The actress has some exciting projects lined up including Mr. & Mrs. Mahi alongside Rajkummar Rao, Devara alongside Jr NTR and Ulajh co-starring Roshan Mathew and Gulshan Devaiah.
