Emraan Hashmi on calling Aishwarya Rai plastic on 'Koffee With Karan': 'Never been apologetic, said that because…'
The actor was under the ire after his rapid fire round on Karan Johar's show went viral in no time a decade ago

Back in 2014, Emraan Hashmi gave one of the best and most controversial rapid fire rounds in Koffee With Karan history. He ended up calling Aishwarya Rai plastic. And in an interview with Galatta India, when asked about the same, the actor had something to say.
He revealed, “I say things the way they are and that was the running joke in that episode. Things were in jest and it was for the hamper. Everything was in fun.”
He added, “People were a little freer back then. I don’t know if I would say it right now, in today’s culture and today’s environment,” he said and added, “I don’t think there was so much critique and cynicism. There’s a certain cynical attitude also in society that you see reflected on social media now.”
And In a conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Emraan while promoting his upcoming OTT show ‘Showtime’ said, “Talking about the show that you just said, I had to bear the brunt for it for quite some time,” further recalling that it was during the rapid fire round when it happened.
“Karan had cut the shot and he just looked around the set and everyone was dumbfounded. He asked ‘Can you actually keep this?’ and a couple of people behind the camera said yes,” the actor added.
This is not the first time that Emraan has opened up about the controversy that he made during the chat show. In a previous interview with Zoom, he opened up on how he ended up making enemies in the industry. “Yeah, I ended up making enemies. If I go on the show again, I will make a mess of things again and it will probably the worse in the rapid-fire round than I was before.”
