Coffee with D trailer: Sunil Grover's film seems funny, but for all the wrong reasons

Coffee with D is best served cold. There is not even a single sizzle in the over two-minute trailer. While the theatrical trailer is itself unbearable, one wonders what the film is capable of doing to its viewers.[caption id="attachment_3160900" align="alignleft" width="380"] Dipannita Sharma, Rajesh Sharma and Sunil Grover in a still from Coffee with D. YouTube[/caption]While Sunil Grover's act as Gutthi on The Kapil Sharma Show is unbeatable, it is advised that he sticks to the same. Grover does not bring even an ounce of appeal to the trailer except in the first seen where he is seen mimicking journalist Arnab Goswami. However, we have seen better mimicry from Grover, like when he mimicked Shah Rukh Khan in Kya Aap Paanchvi Fail Champu Hai and Kaun Banega Champu.It is refreshing to see Anjana Sukhani and Dipannita Sharma on the screen after so long given their last performances were in Vikas Bahl's romantic comedy Shaandar in 2015 and in the horror film Pizza in 2014 respectively. Another long lost gem that is a part of this film is music composer Anu Malik. His last noticeable film was Sharat Katariya's 2015 romantic drama Dum Laga Ke Haisha. Malik crooning the title song of the film does not add anything to the trailer, except a couple of cringes from the viewers.The only hope of the film seem to be the two supporting actors Rajesh Sharma and Zakir Hussain, who plays a negative role of a don in the film. He seems to just repeat his character of JD in Ahmed Khan's 2007 comedy ensemble Fool & Final. Hussain pulls off the last shot of the trailer really well through his poised dialogue delivery. However, the two minutes between the first and the last shots are excruciatingly average.Coffee with D is directed by Vishal Mishra. His directorial debut, which seems to be exaggerated as 'the next biggest comedy', is a pretty good joke in itself.
