Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal took the entertainment world by storm. The action thriller received immense praise from all corners. While a section of people called out the director for promoting a misogynistic approach and glorifying violent scenes in the film, many heaped praises on the director for his direction. Recently, Anurag Kashyap took to his social media to praise the Animal director who he thinks is currently the most ‘misunderstood and judged’ filmmaker at the moment. Taking to his Instagram handle, Anurag dropped a series of photos from his outing with the critically acclaimed director. He wrote, “Had a great evening with @sandeepreddy.vanga . The most misunderstood, judged, and reviled Filmmaker at the moment . To me he is the most honest , vulnerable and lovely human being. And I really don’t give a f””” what any one thinks of him or his film. I wanted to meet the man and I had questions and he answered everything I asked of him about his film that I actually saw twice. Thank you for being patient and being yourself. 40’days since I first saw ANIMAL and 22 days since I saw it the second time. The biggest game changer of Hindi cinema in a longest time and a film whose impact (good or bad) which can’t be denied. And the filmmaker who takes it all on his chin. Great evening spent with him.”The Dev D director’s post comes after Sandeep Reddy Vanga, in a recent interview, lashed out at those who called his film ‘misogynistic’. He said calling his films the same is 'inappropriate'.Released on December 1, Animal features Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Triptii Dimri in the lead roles. The film revolves around Ranvijay (played by Ranbir) and his toxic relationship with his father. The film explores his life as an anti-hero who goes beyond lengths to protect his father, including gunning down 200 people with a machine gun. However, he never gets a seal of approval from his emotionally unavailable father (played by Anil Kapoor).
