The filmmaker has been a strong human rights advocate whose accolades include an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress she won for the film Girl, Interrupted in 1999. When the two forces of global cinema got married, it was history. Until they decided to part ways as things continued getting uglier. It all finally crumbled in December 2024 and a legal battle over their winery ensued.
