All India Bakchod in legal trouble over Narendra Modi meme as cyber crime cell lodges FIR

[caption id="attachment_3826829" align="alignnone" width="800"] Cartoon by Manjul[/caption]Out of the hundreds of jokes they crack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, All India Bakchod (AIB) have come under the scanner for their latest one, which shows a Modi lookalike waiting at a railway station and using the dog filter on Snapchat, along with #Wanderlust.This dig at Modi's multiple foreign visits invited the ire of trolls who not only lambasted the comedy group but also asked the Mumbai police to take action against them. Mumbai police, who were recently criticised for laughing off a woman's complaint of a man masturbating in a local train, responded promptly by claiming that they will forward the complaint to cyber police.Now, NDTV reports that after due legal consultation, the cyber cell has lodged an FIR against AIB for defamation and posting offensive content on social media under the IT act, an offence for which the punishment is a fine of Rs five lakh and up to three years of imprisonment. AIB, who are already in neck-deep legal trouble owing to the infamous AIB Roast, deleted the tweet. This backtracking was met with equal amount of criticism, particularly from Congress leaders who dubbed the comedy group as 'coward' and 'hypocrite'. They questioned for firing countless shots at Congress over the years but refraining from making fun of Modi and the BJP. Tanmay Bhat and Rohan Joshi, members of AIB, responded to the Congress leaders by making fun of their losing relevance. Bhat clarified that while he will withdraw such tweets to save himself from legal trouble, he will continue to make similar jokes.
