Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Cannes 2025 appearance: Tribute to operation ‘Sindoor’ or just a PR exercise?
As Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s ‘sindoor’ look at Cannes 2025 goes viral, two questions that came to my mind were whether this was a solidarity towards our soldiers and her support for Operation Sindoor or was it to shut down divorce rumours with Abhishek Bachchan ? Netizens are loving her look. But isn’t it trivializing the courage of our soldiers?

The display of vermilion on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s head is fine if she is trying to say that she is still happily married to Abhishek Bachchan shutting down all rumours of her divorce. But to display this look at Cannes 2025 as kind of publicity stunt to grab media attention, didn’t go down well with many especially when she didn’t make any effort to put up a single post on ‘Operation Sindoor’ showing her solidarity towards the soldiers.
Following her footsteps was Aditi Rao Hydari spotting a red saree and vermilion on her head. The Netflix's Heeramandi actress stunned in a red Raw Mango saree. The silk saree was finished with a striking cobalt blue border, adding a contrast to the overall look.
Aishwarya Rai has been a veteran at Cannes Film Festivals. This time too she graced the red carpet in an elegant ivory handloom Banarasi saree. She made her debut at the festival back in 2002 along with Shah Rukh Khan for her film Devdas.

Decoding Aishwarya Rai’s look
The saree, a handwoven Kadwa Banarasi handloom pick, was ivory, understated, and helped the sindoor take centerstage. And her stacked ruby necklace is a collection by Manish Malhotra. The vermilion on her matched with lip colour. Her stunning ivory sari had fine brocade motifs.
Each year, she walks down the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, giving her best showstopper moments. Her choices are bold only on this specific red carpet. Whether it is her lilac lip colour, or the sindoor this year. She follows no rule book of fashion.
