Ae Watan Mere Watan: Sara Ali Khan’s aunt Saba Pataudi defends actress' performance, says, ‘Don’t judge until you’ve... ’

Sara Ali Khan's latest release Ae Watan Mere Watan based on the life of freedom fighter Usha Mehta premiered yesterday on Prime Video. Since the movie's release, we saw fans bashing Sara's performance on social media.

However, Sara's aunt Saba Pataudi defended her niece against a troll and came out in support of her.

On Thursday, Karan Johar announced the streaming of the movie and wrote, “Immerse yourself in the inspiring tale of an unsung hero of our nation.” One of the movie buffs, who was skeptical about Ae Watan Mere Watan, wrote, “The theme looks interesting but I’m damn sure Sara Ali Khan is going to ruin by her overacting, just wait for it.”

However, Saba Pataudi noticed the comment and defended Sara as she replied, “DONT judge something until you’ve seen it FIRST. She’s actually brilliant! Mahsha’Allah. (sic)”

In a separate comment, she praised her niece and wrote, “She’s fabulous. Everyone simply nails their part n superb direction. A MUST watch! A true story too…(sic)”

In an exclusive interview with Firstpost, Sara Ali Khan said, "I’m like the queen of self-deprecation. So if I am feeling that way, we’ve done something correct. The radio, the world, the characters, Gandhiji, everything is so real that I think it was very important actually. The emotions of this film, our emotions we can’t understand today, the novelty of communication, the improbability of the idea of a radio, the fact that freedom is something we take for granted, it’s very difficult to transport ourselves actually back to that time. So these little, little things definitely helped."

Directed by Kannan Iyer, Ae Watan Mere Watan also features Sachin Khedekar, Emraan Hashmi, Abhay Verma, Sparsh Shrivastav, Anand Tiwari, Aditi Sanwal, Alexx O’Neil, Benedict Garrett in prominent roles.
