'Aakhri Sawal': Sanjay Dutt's film finally gets a release date, here's why it was delayed
After the CBFC clearance delay, Aakhri Sawal, starring Sanjay Dutt, has finally locked in a new release date, with makers also confirming the trailer launch

Aakhri Sawal, headlined by Sanjay Dutt, is steadily gaining strong momentum and is shaping up to be one of the most awaited films of 2026. The project has already sparked wide conversation following its impactful announcement, its bold and thought-provoking teaser that offered a glimpse into a tense and gripping glimpse into historical events linked to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
However, the film recently found itself stuck in CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) scrutiny hurdles, leading to an unexpected delay in its release plans. The situation also caused uncertainty around the trailer launch, which remained on hold as the censor board review process was underway.
Now, after receiving a clearance and official green signal from the censor board, all concerns have finally been resolved. With everything now in place and the clearance process complete, the makers have moved forward confidently.
The makers have unveiled a striking new poster featuring the ensemble cast and officially announced the film’s grand theatrical release date as 15th May 2026. Adding to the excitement, the highly anticipated trailer is now locked to release tomorrow, finally giving audiences their long-awaited glimpse into the film.
Aakhri Sawal is directed by National Award–winning filmmaker Abhijeet Mohan Warang. Presented by Nikhil Nanda, the film is produced by Nikhil Nanda and Sanjay Dutt, and co-produced by Puneet Nanda, Dr. Deepak Singh, Gaurav Dubey, and Ujjwal Anand. The story, screenplay, and dialogue are written by Utkarsh Naithani. The film is set to release in cinemas on 15th May 2026 in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
