It's not official yet but word is that 13 Reasons Why, Netflix's adaption of the bestselling 2007 YA book by Jay Asher, will be renewed for a second season soon, reports Deadline. The series got its Season 2 writers’ room going a few weeks ago, reports The Hollywood Reporter.[caption id="attachment_3409350" align="alignleft" width="380"]13 Reasons Why Hannah Baker ( Katherine Langford) in 13 Reasons Why[/caption]That wouldn't be a surprise — executive-produced by Selena Gomez, 13 Reasons Why has been well received by critics and has created buzz on social media, quickly developing a following. There had been talks about how to extend the premise beyond Season 1.The series follows teenager Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette) as he returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker ( Katherine Langford) — his classmate and crush — who tragically committed suicide two weeks earlier.On tape, Hannah explains that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Will Clay be one of them? If he listens, he'll find out how and why he made the list.The series has sparked debate following its arrival on the streaming service last month.Mental health organisations criticised its inclusion of a graphic suicide while officials at some schools in the US have sent out letters to parents warning them about the show's content. New Zealand has ruled that teens cannot watch the series unless they are supervised by an adult.The show's writer, Nic Sheff, penned an open letter in response to the negative publicity explaining the decision to show Baker's suicide in graphic detail.
