Volkswagen to continue selling the old Tiguan along with the next-generation model

The all new Volkswagen Tiguan has started selling in a number of markets and recently it was launched for the Indian roads. While it was launched as a new product in India, it has replaced the older version in the European and American markets.However, according to a report by Automotive News, the production for the older generation of the SUV will not be scrapped as it will be sold alongside the new version. The car will  be sold as the 'Tiguan Limited' and will be available in just one trim. This comes straight from Tiguan product manager Jeff Ng. It will be built in Germany like before while pricing will be announced later this month, of course it will be cheaper than the new Tiguan."The segment is huge. There’s a broad range of price points, and we think with this new car, we can still offer the current Tiguan as Tiguan Limited for customers that are looking for different content, different size and different price," said Ng.[caption id="attachment_378052" align="aligncenter" width="640"] The new Volkswagen Tiguan[/caption]Volkswagen launched the new generation Tiguan in India last month, making it the first large SUV offering for the country. It was announced in the Comfortline and Highline variants priced at Rs 27.68 lakh and Rs 31.04 lakh respectively (ex-showroom Mumbai). The new Tiguan is built using Volkswagen’s popular MQB (Modularer Querbaukasten) platform, that allows for a lighter chassis, that not only makes it lighter on fuel consumption but also allows for better handling as well.
