Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Launched: New look, enhanced features, and much more

The first facelift of Volkswagen mid-size SUV, the Taigun, has been released in India, ever since its first launch in India. The facelift brings a host of styling updates, new features, updated interiors, and a new gearbox, as well as a slew of new striking colours as well.

Volkswagen has added a slew of new sports elements to the Taigun. The front fascia now sports a slimmer grille with a trail of LED DRLs that connect the headlights, runs through the grille, and illuminates the VW logo. The bumper has been redesigned as well, with a bunch of new chrome inserts to refresh the entire facade of the vehicle.

The overall silhouette of the car is similar to the pre-facelift model. It has thick body claddings, along with roof rails, improving the overall stance and road presence of the vehicle. What's different here is the new design for the 17-inch alloy wheels. The rear end stands apart from the pre-facelift version thanks to the addition of connected LED taillamps and sequential turn indicators. An integrated spoiler with thick body cladding and other elements adds a level of sportiness to the vehicle. The car will be available in 9 colour options; two of them are new. These are Steel Grey and Avocado Pearl.

New Interior Updates

The overall layout of the cabin is similar to the outgoing model. The cabin retains some of the physical buttons and various controls; there is a larger digital instrument cluster as well. An addition that stands out above all others is the new panoramic sunroof, which gives an airy feel inside the cabin and also adds to the premium experience. Beyond the panoramic sunroof, the car also has a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display with the ability to show turn-by-turn navigation, and an updated 10.2-inch infotainment screen with AI assistant.

Taigun Facelift Features and Safety

The Taigun facelift carries forward much of its equipment from the outgoing model. Some of the highlights are 6-way powered and ventilated front seats, auto headlamps, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rain-sensing wipers, automatic climate control, cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM, a 6-speaker sound system, and a wireless phone charger.

Delivering on its promise of safety for the drivers, the Taigun has 6 airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, all-wheel disc brakes, hill hold assist, electronic differential lock, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Powertrain Options for the New Taigun Facelift

Volkswagen will continue to offer the Taigun facelift with the same engine options as the outgoing model. These include a 1-litre and a 1.5-litre turbo TSI engine. A new addition would be the 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox that replaces the 6-speed unit. A manual is still available with the vehicle.

The Taigun is expected to be priced between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 19 lakh. The car will be available in 7 trims: Comfortline, Highline, Topline, Highline Plus, GT Line, GT Plus, and GT Plus Sport.
