Triumph unveils new 350cc lineup with updated features, changes and pricing

In the aftermath of the introduction new tax brackets for bikes below 400cc, Triumph has launched new 350cc versions of the Speed 400, the Scrambler 400 X, the Scrambler 400 XC, the Thruxton 400, and the T4 in India. Even though the engine has been resized to 350cc, the bikes continue to carry the 400 nameplates.

As a result of the smaller engines, the Speed 400, Scrambler 400 X, Scrambler 400 XC, and the Thruxton 400 make 3 PS and 5.5 Nm less than the previous versions.

While the numbers showcase a slight reduction in performance, leading to lower power and torque figures, the real-world performance impact is expected to be minimal. The new 400 fleet continues with its clean roadster styling, muscular fuel tank, and a neat tail section.

The Scrambler 400 X retains its rugged styling and taller stance, along with a beak-style front fender and purposeful design elements like tank pads and fork gaiters. The Thruxton 400 continues with its retro café racer-style sporty appearance. To add to its appeal, the brand has given it equally sporty colour options. The T4 also carries the same look as before, maintaining the same classic roadster design.

Details like the round LED headlamp, sculpted tank, and premium finishes continue to stand out. The bikes retain their analogue speedometer with a small digital inset displaying information such as speed, time, fuel level, distance to empty, and a tachometer. Other notable features include all-LED lighting, dual-channel ABS, and switchable traction control, just like before.

Triumph has streamlined its lineup and made the necessary changes after bikes with 350cc engines or less were subjected to only 18% tax instead of the previous 28%. Conversely, bikes with engines above 350cc faced an increase to the luxury slab of 40%. To retain competitive pricing against 350cc competitors, Triumph has revised the engine sizes of these bikes.
