Tata teases Sierra EV with a Harrier EV-derived upgrade — Here's what's coming

Tata is possibly gearing up to add another vehicle to its lineup, the all-new Sierra EV. Ahead of its launch on June 30, the brand has released a short teaser of the vehicle. The brief preview hints at a Harrier EV-like AWD setup, where a pair of electric motors mounted on the front and rear axles enable all-wheel drive. Reports also suggest that a similar AWD variant could be introduced for the ICE-powered Sierra in 2027.

The Sierra EV is expected to be underpinned by Tata’s Acti.ev+ architecture and could be offered with 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery pack options. All-wheel drive is likely to be exclusive to the larger battery pack. The upcoming EV is also expected to feature diamond-cut alloy wheels measuring up to 19 inches.

The Tata Sierra EV is expected to retain the iconic upright, boxy design of the original Sierra, featuring connected LED headlamps and tail-lamps, thick B-pillars, and the signature blacked-out rear glass section inspired by the 1991 model. Unlike the ICE version, however, the EV will sport a body-coloured sealed front fascia in place of a conventional grille.

Inside, higher-spec variants are likely to offer a three-screen layout comprising a digital instrument cluster, central touchscreen, and passenger display, while lower trims may get a dual-screen setup along with a head-up display (HUD). Other expected features include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a premium sound system, and multiple drive modes.

Expected to be priced between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom), the Sierra EV will slot between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV in Tata's electric vehicle lineup. It will compete with rivals such as the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, Maruti e Vitara, and Toyota Urban Cruiser EV.
