Tata Hexa premium crossover launch moves to January 2017

Tata announced its premium crossover Hexa at the Auto Expo earlier this year. While the company had said that it will hit showrooms during the festive season, it seems that it will be seeing certain delays as the launch has been postponed to January 2017.The Hexa will be arriving with the same 2.2-litre Varicor 400 diesel engine that is available on the Tata Safari Storme. It can produce 156 bhp and will be offered with a choice of manual and automatic six-speed gearboxes. The manual transmission variant will be coming with selectable drive modes that will alter the car’s engine performance and safety systems based on the selection made. These drive modes include Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road. In the Auto mode, as the name suggests, the engine and the car mechanicals adapt to the road conditions while in Comfort mode, the car becomes ideal for cruising. The Dynamic mode is for pure performance and the Rough Road mode tunes the car’s systems to handle off-road driving conditions with improved brake performance.The premium crossover will be coming with a variety of features with the high-end variant getting luxuries like a JBL-developed audio system, cruise control, leather seats and more. Safety equipment will include six airbags, ABS and ESP. Tata is expected to launch the Hexa  in three variants with prices starting at Rs 12.5 lakh (ex-showroom). With this launch, the company is expected to compete against the new Toyota Innova and renew the glory of the Tata Aria.
