Skoda is expected to announce the new Octavia in India this year as a source has mentioned that the company is planning for a June 2017 launch.The new facelift version has started selling in various countries and mostly features exterior changed. There is a revised butterfly grille, a redesigned bumper with wide intake with new foglamps, and an updated LED-powered taillight cluster. This makes the sedan look more aggressive than before.
The new version will continue to carry the same engine configurations that are present in the current generation Octavia. Which means a 1.4 TSI petrol, 1.8 TSI petrol and a 2.0 TDI diesel available with a 6-speed manual, 6-speed DSG automatic and 7-speed DSG automatic transmissions.
The company is also expected to launch the Octavia vRS in India around the festive season of Diwali. This will feature a 2.0-litre TSI engine with 230 bhp. This allows it to go from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.7 seconds and offers a top speed of 250 kmph.The interiors of the car are expected to remain the same. While the new Octavia features a new 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system in international markets, the Indian version will get the same equipment as the current generation that is being sold in India.
