Mini Cooper S Victory edition launched at Rs 57.5 lakh: Here’s what makes it special

Mini Cooper has added another addition to their illustrious lineup of cars: the all-new Mini Cooper S Victory Edition. The car will be available as a completely built-up unit (CBU) and can be booked at all Mini India authorized dealerships.

The special edition pays homage to Mini's phenomenal performance at the hands of Timo Makinen and Paul Ester, leading to a win at the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally. At the time, Mini’s performance was considered nothing short of a spectacle, considering the ingenious design that led to its elegant performance, and agility under extreme weather. Mini states that the Cooper S Victory Edition commemorates Mini’s craftsmanship and Mini’s illustrious rally past.

The new Mini Cooper S Victory Edition will be available in the exclusive Chili Red exterior paintwork. The Mini has sports seats with Vescin black inserts that are available as standard. The 18-inch wheels in the JCW Lap Spoke 2-tone design are offered as standard.

The all-new Chili Red exterior paintwork pays homage to the original colours of the 1960s Victory Edition. Beyond that, a 52 graphic adorns both sides of the vehicle, a reference to the number of the original car displayed in 1965, adding to the special character a 1965 sticker on the C-pillar emphasizes the historic win.

The mini does not miss out on any conventional features, it has a special Interaction unit with a high-resolution 240 mm circular OLED touchscreen display; a defining feature of the interior. The equipment now has an all-new Operating System 9 that is optimized for touchscreen and voice control. To further ensure that users do not have to stray out of their way to use the infotainment features, the Mini Intelligent Personal Assistant can be activated by saying, “Hey Mini.”

The all-new Mini Digital Key Plus functionality turns the smartphone into the car key via the Mini app and can be transferred to different users along with their personal vehicle settings. For music enthusiasts, a Harman Kardon surround sound system is also on offer.

The victory edition further adds to the performance quotient with its immersive driving experiences. These include the all new race inspired Go kart mode to the energy saving Green Mode and a lively vivid mode as well.

Performance specs

The new Mini Cooper S Victory Edition is on offer with a  4 cylinder petrol engine powered by the latest Mini TwinPower Turbo Technology. The car is able to mobilize a peak output of 204 hp @ 5000–6500 rpm and produces a maximum torque of 300 Nm at 1450 to 4500 rpm. The special edition is able to reach a speed of 100 kmph in 6.6 seconds and top out at 242 km/h. The 7-speed double-clutch Steptronic Sport transmission offers efficient, comfortable, and sporty driving thanks to a broader gear spread. The adaptive suspension further adds to the exhilarating ride that the mini offers.

The safety equipment here comprises front passenger airbags, side curtain airbags, brake assist, 3-point seat belts, M Dynamic Stability Control, crash sensor, anti-lock braking system, Cornering Brake Control, rear-view camera, and tubeless tyres with a pressure monitoring system.
