Mercedes-Benz has revealed the 2026 GLS with a myriad of styling, equipment, and technical changes. The outgoing version received an update in late 2023, and the GLS will continue to be the Stuttgart-based automaker’s flagship SUV offering.

The new GLS retains the GLS 450 4MATIC, which has been updated to produce 560 Nm of torque. The petrol lineup topper is the GLS 580 4MATIC, which has a 537 hp V8 engine featuring a new flat-plane crankshaft instead of the previous model’s cross-plane crank configuration. Not only has the power output gone up by 20 hp, peak torque now sits at 750 Nm, 20 Nm more than before.

The diesel lineup consists of the GLS 350d 4MATIC and GLS 450d 4MATIC, both of which have been updated with lighter aluminium cylinder heads and crankcases. All variants of the new GLS will now come with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology with an integrated starter generator, along with the brand’s 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system. The GLS is available with adaptive air suspension with ride height adjustment, on- and off-road modes, and the 48-volt Active Body Control feature.

The lineup is now available with new trim options. The dashboard now has circular air vents, while the seats have distinct graphics and stitching. These are accompanied by welcome animations, digital motifs, and mood-specific colour themes. Beyond that, the steering wheel has been updated as well, with a flat-bottom shape, metallic dial, and rocker switch. All variants have seating for seven occupants.
