Mercedes-AMG is building an efficient hypercar and it's already 'sold out' two years before launch

Mercedes-AMG is working on building a hypercar that will be sold in limited numbers and pack in F1 tech straight out of an F1 car. Indeed this would be AMG's first hypercar. Sadly though it will only be announced after Mercedes-AMG is long done with its 50th anniversary celebrations which takes place next year.The Mercedes-AMG hypercar as per various sources will be launched in 2018, but it is already sold out, even before its left the drawing board.What Mercedes-AMG does have is an idea of what it would be like and so far that idea has managed to sell all of them.According to a report in AutocarUK, AMG will be building just 200 to 300 examples of this fuel efficient beast. Power is said to be in the 1000bhp range and the same will be derived from an F1 1.6-litre engine combined with electric motors. And its not just the engine from an F1 car that will make it in this hypercar, but everything else including the transmission, the MGU-H system that uses heat from the exhaust to create electrical energy and much more. In short, it is going to be very, efficient compared to the brawny hypercars we have in the market today.The car's body will be made of carbon fibre and will be built keeping in mind the monocoque structure that is used in current F1 cars. In fact, Autocar points out that it's the first time we will witness a direct technology transfer straight from the race track to a public road.The prototype according to Mercedes-AMG boss Tobias Moers will arrive next year, while customers will get delivery of this 3 million pound (expected) hypercar by 2018.
