Maruti Suzuki manages to sell 4,830 units of Ignis in less than a month

Maruti Suzuki recently launched its new mini crossover Ignis in the Indian market in January. In about 18 days, the company has managed to sell over 4,800 units of the car, says a report.Aimed at the younger audience, the new Ignis received over 6,000 bookings before the car was launched and 15,000 bookings after the launch. Currently, the waiting period for the new car is 3 months.Currently selling in Japan and Europe, the carmaker is offering six petrol models priced between Rs 4.59 lakh and Rs 6.69 lakh and five diesel models selling between Rs 6.39 and Rs 7.80 lakh in India. It is also the third crossover in the Maruti Suzuki lineup, the first two being the S-Cross and the Vitara Brezza. In India, Maruti Suzuki is selling the Ignis via its Nexa dealerships making it the third product to be sold under the Nexa brand after the Baleno and the S-Cross.The petrol variants pack a 1.2-litre engine that delivers 83 bhp and 115 Nm of torque. The diesel variant features a 1.3-litre motor capable of producing 74 bhp and 190 Nm of peak torque. While both the variants get a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, there is also an AMT version with the Delta and Zeta diesel and petrol trims. It has also managed to score a 3-star rating for the standard equipment trim and a full 5-star when equipped with the optional safety pack.
