Isuzu MU-X premium SUV launched in India; prices start from Rs 23.99 lakhs for the 4x2 variant

Isuzu, the Japanese car-maker, has today launched a new premium SUV for the Indian market called the MU-X. The 4×2 variant is priced at Rs 23.99 lakh while the 4X4 variant has been launched at Rs 25.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). According to the company, India will soon emerge as a global manufacturing hub for the company which will be a part of its ‘Make in India’ initiative. The company is said to have invested Rs 3,000 crore at its Sri City India plant in Andhra Pradesh.Coming back to the car itself, the MU-X is powered by a 3-litre turbo-charged diesel engine that churns out 174 hp of power at 3,600 rpm and 380 Nm of torque from 1,800 rpm to 2,800 rpm. There is a 5-speed automatic transmission and no manual option. The all-wheel drive variant comes with Shift-on-the-fly functionality to make off-road driving easier.The SUV is built on the D-Max pick-up truck. It features a pair of headlamps with projector lamps along with LED daytime running lights, recessed foglamps with chrome accents, a twin-slat chrome grille and a large bonnet. It also gets 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, chrome door handles, chromed up ORVMs, aluminium side steps, and silver roof rails. At the back there are LED tail-lamps and a curved glass windshield.On the inside there is a twin-cockpit design with a dual tone ivory-grey colour scheme. The upholstery comes in soft leather and features soft pads for the door-side armrests and centre armrest. The centre console has a piano black finish with chrome accents all the buttons and dials. Comfort features include climate control, air-conditioner vents for all three rows, integrated 7-inch infotainment system with 8 speakers and a roof mounted 10-inch DVD entertainment monitor, cruise control, centre locking with keyless entry and more.Safety features include dual front airbags, ABS, electronic brake force distribution (EBD), brake assist, hill start assist (HSA), electronic stability control (ESC), traction control system (TCS) and rear parking camera.The new MU-X 2017 SUV will be offered in four colors – Silky White Pearl, Orchid Brown Mica, Cosmic Black Mica and Titanium Silver Metallic.
