Volkswagen has just unveiled its new compact sedan, the Ameo in India

Volkswagen has just revealed its new Ameo compact sedan which is based on the Polo hatchback . The Volkswagen Ameo will be offered with two engine options. It will get the 1.2 MPI petrol that also powers the Polo and the 1.5 TDI diesel from the Vento. The petrol is a three-cylinder motor which is mated a 5-speed manual gearbox. The diesel is a four-cylinder motor which will be offered with a 5-speed manual. Volkswagen will also offer this diesel engine with the option of a 7-speed automatic dual-clutch gearbox.

The Volkswagen Ameo will be launched in the second half of 2016. It will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, the Honda Amaze, the Tata Zest, the Hyundai Xcent, the Ford Figo Aspire and the Tata’s upcoming compact sedan based on the Zica.
