Honda Brio: A facelifted model will launch soon, but don't expect a new engine

Honda is all geared up to launch the facelifted version of the Brio in India today. The new Honda Brio is simply expected to be a facelift, meaning we may not necessarily see a new car inside out.The hatchback from the Japanese automaker has won the hearts of many with its small footprint and practicality. The facelift has been long awaited, but it may disappoint a few customers since upgraded internals so far are nowhere in sight.[caption id="attachment_338910" align="aligncenter" width="640"] Image: Honda Indonesia[/caption]The hatchback will be powered by the same 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that churns out 88bhp and 109Nm of torque. The engine would be mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic unit.But even with an older engine, the new Honda Brio may find plenty of buyers. The front grille too sees an angular design that gives it an updated look when compared to its newer siblings.Inside, the dashboard receives a big update, however it almost looks identical to the one on the new Honda Amaze (which also recently saw a facelift). At times, its seems like the Brio just isn't special since the new model is a mix and match of various parts from Honda's stable.[caption id="attachment_338911" align="aligncenter" width="640"] Image: Honda Indonesia[/caption]Still, you do get steering mounted controls and touch sensitive air-conditioning controls as well. Other goodies include power windows, power steering. Once again however, Airbags along with ABS and EBD will only be available in the top spec variant.
