Hero MotoCorp to unveil India’s first flex-fuel motorcycle on June 3

Hero MotoCorp is set to take a significant step towards alternative-fuel mobility with the launch of its first flex-fuel motorcycle in India on June 3. The unveiling will take place in the presence of Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.

The upcoming motorcycle is expected to become the country’s first two-wheeler capable of running on 100% ethanol. The launch would mark Hero MotoCorp’s entry into the flex-fuel segment, which is still in its early stages of development in India.

Reports suggest that the new flex-fuel variant will be based on the popular Splendor or HF Deluxe commuter platforms. A flex-fuel version of the HF Deluxe was previously showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, indicating the brand’s plans for ethanol-powered mobility.

These vehicles are specifically designed to operate on varying blends of petrol and ethanol, including high-ethanol fuels such as E85 and E100. At present, vehicles in India are largely moving towards E20 compliance. The government has been placing greater emphasis on increasing ethanol adoption to develop vehicles capable of running on higher ethanol blends and reduce dependence on fuel imports.

Since the HF Deluxe and other Hero entry-level motorcycles have an extensive customer base, these bikes could help expand the brand’s reach in the mass-market commuter segment.

Beyond this upcoming motorcycle, the list of flex-fuel compliant vehicles in India also includes the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250, which is compatible with E85 fuel.
