Ducati 1299 Superleggera launched in India with a price tag of Rs 1.12 Crore

Ducati India showrooms have started accepting bookings for the Ducati 1299 Superleggera. It is the lightest mass produced bike, and was announced ahead of the EICMA-Motorcycle Exhibition at Milano in Italy.The bike has a dry weight of only 156 kg. The fairing, frame, swinging arms, sub frames and wheels are all made of carbon fibre. The race kit further drops the weight to just 150 kg. The 1299 Superleggera is the world's first street bike to use carbon fibre for all these parts. Under the fairing is the most powerful version of the Superquadro engine by Ducati. The Desmodromic EURO 4 engine has a capacity of 215 horsepower and is the most powerful twin-cylinder engine ever produced.  The 1299 Superleggera is the first Ducati superbike to be equipped with the Ducati Power Launch (DPL) in addition to the Engine Brake Control (EBC).The bike has improved technologies availaible on the 1299 Panigale S Anniversario, to improve the performance while exiting tight corners. The Ducati Slide Control (DSC) feature has been introduced to the Traction Control EVO (DTC EVO) system. Ducati has introduced a new electronics package to the 1299 Superleggera called the inertial platform system with six axes (6D IMU - Inertial Measurement Unit), to manage the electronic controls on the bike.The motorcycle is available for Rs 1.12 crore (ex showroom, Delhi). The Ducati 1299 Superleggera is a limited edition motorcycle, and only 500 of these are going to be available. It is a standard street bike that uses materials usually used in racing bikes. Ducati has drawn from its racing experience to make the 1299 Superleggera.
