CES 2017: Teaser hints at integrating Nissan vehicles with Microsoft's Cortana artificial intelligence

A teaser tweeted by Nissan on their upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) keynote is leading to speculation that Nissan vehicles might be integrated with Cortana. The teaser promises some exciting announcement at the Nissan keynote, scheduled for 5 January at Las Vegas, as part of CES 2017. The teaser shows a user scheduling a reminder for Nissan's CES keynote, using Cortana on an unspecified platform.https://twitter.com/NissanMotor/status/815860369642160129When Microsoft opened up Cortana to third party developers, it had revealed that Cortana integration would be coming to at least one connected car. Putting two and two together, that car could very well be a Nissan vehicle, or a number of Nissan vehicles. The Skills Kit and Devices SDK allows third party developers and manufacturers to add functionality directly to Cortana, as well as integrate Cortana into their product offerings. Another anticipated integration is a Cortana based smart speaker for home automation, entertainment and digital assistant taks, similar to Amazon Echo or Google Home. Harman Kardon is apparently making a high end smart speaker with Cortana.Cortana is now a cross platform AI, that is available on Windows devices, as well as Android and iOS devices. The same functionality is seamlessly provided across all the platforms. The teaser uses the scheduling feature of Cortana, which has grown increasingly advanced. Cortana can schedule meetings and replace the back and forth of the emails to find a convenient time for everyone, by acting as an actual human assistant.There are a number of announcements related to automobiles expected at CES 2017, from automakers such as Nissan, LeEco, Hyundai and Ford. The buzz is around electric vehicles, connected cars, and semi autonomous vehicles. Nissan, Renault and Mitsubishi are apparently sharing their electric vehicle platforms in an effort to cut costs.
