Bentley Bentayga spied testing a toned down diesel V8 instead of the W12
While Bentley's cars do look beautiful, every other luxury car brand is trying to make a buck by stepping into the SUV segment and Bentley is one of them. While the current Bentley Bentayga packs in a massive 6.0-litre W12, Bentley has now been spied testing a humbler 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 diesel.

Image: CarBuzz[/caption]Carbuzz states that toned down engine comes from the Audi Q7 (that by no means is underpowered) that makes 435Hp and 900Nm torque. Bentley is expected to up the power a bit to keep the Bentayga from losing its exclusivity. The W12 version develops a estimated 600Hp.[caption id="attachment_332520" align="aligncenter" width="640"]
Image: CarBuzz[/caption]If you are wondering where those that odd torque figure comes from, well this SUV also packs in an electrically powered compressor to help Bentley owners tow things like trailers (stuff they normally would never involve themselves in).[caption id="attachment_332522" align="aligncenter" width="640"]
Image: CarBuzz[/caption]There's nothing new in the spy shots either. The upcoming Bentley Bentayga has looks pretty much identical to the current model other than the split tailpipes.[caption id="attachment_332523" align="aligncenter" width="640"]
Image: CarBuzz[/caption]Carbuzz confirmed that the Bentley SUV you see in the pictures is actually powered by a diesel engine. This is a bit odd as Volkswagen Group had planned to shift its focus away from diesel and incline towards hybridization and electrification. However, the diesel version was expected in 2017 followed up by a plug-in hybrid in 2018.
