All 80 units of Koenigsegg's Regera hypercars have sold out at $1.9 million each

Swedish sports car maker Koenigsegg who announced the Regera at the 86th Geneva Motor Show in 2016, now claims that all 80 units of their $1.9 million plug-in hybrid sports car model have been sold out.The Regera represents a milestone for Koenigsegg Automotive AB. With 80 hand-crafted units in total, made in its production facility in Ängelholm, Sweden, it is the largest single model being offered in the company’s history. The Regera's 5 litre twin - turbo v8 engine delivers 1,800 horsepower and over 2,000 Nm of torque, achieving 0 - 100 kmph (62 mph) in a blistering 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 400 km/h (250 mph) in 20 seconds.The Koenigsegg Regera combines a powerful twin-turbo V8 combustion engine with three electric motors and cutting edge battery power via new powertrain technology called Koenigsegg Direct Drive. This technology removes the traditional gearbox, making the car lighter and more efficient. This is also the first time ever that Koenigsegg will have two different models in parallel production, the Regera and the Agera RS.According to the car maker, the Regera program is the largest single vehicle series in Koenigsegg's history. The Regera sits alongside Koenigsegg's more track-focused road car, the Agera RS. "The Regera is a new high watermark for Koenigsegg Automotive" said company founder and CEO, Christian von Koenigsegg who also invented Koenigsegg's Direct Drive transmission (KDD) used in the Regera. "It has been our greatest technical challenge and as such, it is also our greatest technical triumph," said the CEO.
