India, Afghanistan review bilateral ties, reaffirm cooperation across key sectors

India and Afghanistan on Thursday reviewed the full spectrum of their bilateral relationship during the fourth round of the India-Afghanistan Joint Committee Meeting held in the national capital.

The meeting was co-chaired by M Anand Prakash, Joint Secretary (PAI) in the Ministry of External Affairs, and Shuaib Baryalai, Director General of the First Political Division in Afghanistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the two sides discussed cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including humanitarian assistance, development partnership, food security, healthcare, capacity building, education, sports, trade, visa facilitation and connectivity.

During the talks, the Indian side reiterated its commitment to supporting the welfare and development needs of the Afghan people.

The Afghan delegation, in turn, expressed appreciation for India's continued assistance and cooperation across various sectors.

Both countries also underscored the importance of maintaining regular consultations to strengthen bilateral engagement and agreed to remain in close contact on issues of mutual interest.

The two sides decided that the next round of the India-Afghanistan Joint Committee Meeting will be held at a mutually convenient time.
