US President Donald Trump has unveiled a phased tariff roadmap for imported generic medicines, a move that could significantly impact India's pharmaceutical exports. Under the plan, generic drug imports will remain tariff-free for two years before facing duties of 100 percent and later 200 percent. Trump said the policy is aimed at encouraging drugmakers to shift manufacturing to the United States. India, the world's largest supplier of generic medicines, exports up to $10 billion worth of these drugs to the US annually.
