Waiting for a OnePlus update? Here’s why It’s taking longer than expected

OnePlus recently paused the OxygenOS update in the middle of its rollout. The tech giant announced on its Community forum that it has temporarily suspended the rollout of OxygenOS versions 16.0.7.xxx and 16.0.5.xxx.

The post further revealed that the rollout was halted after some devices started experiencing abnormal restarts and boot issues following the recent updates.

OnePlus added that the decision to pause the rollout was made to “ensure device stability and protect user experience.” According to the company, the rollout was pulled down as a 'pre-emptive' measure.

In a OnePlus community post, it states, "After extensive verification, we can confirm that there was no external user impact. Users who have already updated can continue using their devices normally and with confidence."

OnePlus also stated that its teams are actively working on the issue with the highest priority. The rollout is also confirmed to restart on May 18.

OnePlus apologised for the inconvenience and added that it is “reviewing and strengthening” its testing and quality assurance processes to prevent similar problems in the future. The rollout is expected to be reinitiated soon, once all the issues have been addressed.

OnePlus to Shift to Online Sales Entirely

Earlier, OnePlus India had announced that its device owners would soon have to use Oppo service centres starting in April. The news came shortly after reports suggested that the company might exit global markets as early as next month.

OnePlus now appears to be on the verge of a major retail shift in India.

In the past, sources had hinted to Moneycontrol that OnePlus’s after-sales service announcement was intended to reassure customers ahead of a possible shutdown of offline retail operations. OnePlus CEO Robin Liu had refuted these claims at the time before leaving the company. His departure was followed by a series of reports stating that OnePlus could scale down or shutter operations as early as next month.
