TikTok has launched an all-new standalone application in the United States dedicated to major cultural moments, beginning with the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026. The new app, called TikTok Pro Events, allows users to engage with fellow fans, explore trending videos, and access curated creator feeds centered around major events.

Through the app, users aged 18 and older can earn "Stars" by completing fan-focused activities such as searching for trending hashtags, visiting FIFA World Cup hubs, and sharing content. These Stars can then be redeemed for a range of rewards, including official FIFA World Cup merchandise through a dedicated redemption store, TikTok Shop coupons, or the opportunity to direct TikTok-funded charitable donations through a partnership with Feeding America.

By launching a dedicated application for global cultural events outside its main platform, TikTok is seeking to compete more aggressively for user attention while giving creators, brands, and advertisers access to a more focused and engaged audience.

The new app could also create additional revenue opportunities for TikTok through sponsorships, brand partnerships, creator-led marketing campaigns, and advertising.

TikTok says users can also access dedicated FIFA World Cup 2026 hubs within the main TikTok app by searching for "FIFA World Cup." Powered by the company's GamePlan platform, these hubs are designed to help sports organizations, leagues, and broadcasters increase content discovery and fan engagement by bringing together tournament-related videos, creators, and highlights in one place.

The move reflects TikTok's broader strategy of evolving beyond social media and entertainment into a platform centered around major cultural and live events. The company has steadily expanded its services, most recently with the launch of TikTok GO, which allows users to discover and book hotels, attractions, and travel experiences directly within the app.

Rather than directing users to third-party websites, TikTok is increasingly positioning itself as an end-to-end platform that converts content discovery into transactions, creating new revenue streams while keeping users engaged within its ecosystem.
