Samsung's next Galaxy Unpacked event is fast approaching, and the stream of leaks surrounding the company's upcoming foldable phones shows little sign of slowing. The latest report, published by WinFuture, claims to reveal the complete specifications of both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the new Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, offering the clearest indication yet of how Samsung plans to separate its two premium book-style foldables.

While both devices are expected to share the same flagship chipset and several core features, the leaked specifications suggest Samsung is reserving its biggest hardware upgrades for the Ultra model. Those include a larger and sharper inner display, improved camera hardware and a higher-capacity battery. Meanwhile, the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 appears to focus on delivering a familiar foldable experience at a lower entry price.

Design and display: According to the leaked specifications, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will feature a 5.5-inch outer display with a 1972 x 1248 resolution and a 7.6-inch internal panel offering a resolution of 2448 x 1848. Both displays are expected to support a 120Hz refresh rate.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, meanwhile, is tipped to receive a larger 6.5-inch cover screen and an 8-inch foldable display with a sharper 2504 x 2256 resolution. The report also suggests the Ultra could measure just 4.1mm when unfolded, making it slightly thinner than the standard Fold 8, which is listed at 4.5mm.

Camera hardware is another key area of separation. The standard Fold 8 is expected to include a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultrawide camera and 10MP selfie cameras on both the inner and outer displays. The Ultra is said to step things up with a 200MP main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide lens, a 10MP 3x telephoto camera and matching 10MP front-facing cameras.

Processor: Both foldables are expected to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset. The customised "For Galaxy" version is expected to deliver slightly higher clock speeds than the standard processor, similar to Samsung's recent Galaxy S-series flagships.

Storage options are also expected to differ. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 could arrive in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB variants paired with 12GB of RAM. The Ultra, however, is tipped to offer up to 16GB RAM alongside 1TB of storage on its top-end configuration.

Battery: Battery capacity appears to be another major differentiator. The standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to house a 4,800mAh battery with support for 45W wired charging.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, on the other hand, is rumoured to pack a larger 5,000mAh battery while retaining the same 45W charging speed. If accurate, this would represent a noticeable improvement over Samsung's previous-generation foldable.

The leak indicates the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could start at €1,999, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra may carry a starting price of €2,199. Samsung is also expected to offer multiple colour options, with the Fold 8 reportedly arriving in Graphite, Cream, Lavender and Pistachio, while the Ultra may be available in Graphite, Cream, Violet Shadow and Green Shadow.

India launch timeline

Samsung has yet to officially confirm these specifications, and the company is expected to unveil both foldables during its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. Based on Samsung's usual release schedule, the devices are likely to become available in global markets, including India, shortly after the announcement.
