Samsung Galaxy M47 set for India launch on June 29: Display, battery, processor and more

Samsung is gearing up to introduce a new addition to its Galaxy M portfolio in India, with the Galaxy M47 5G scheduled to debut on June 29. The smartphone arrives as competition intensifies in the mid-range segment, where brands are increasingly focusing on gaming performance, battery life and AI-driven features to attract younger buyers.

The Galaxy M series has traditionally been positioned as Samsung's value-focused lineup, offering a balance of performance and affordability. With the upcoming M47 5G, the company appears to be strengthening its focus on consumers who spend significant time gaming, streaming content and multitasking on their smartphones.

Ahead of the launch, Samsung has revealed several key specifications, highlighting improvements across performance, display technology, cameras and software support. The device also incorporates a range of artificial intelligence tools and security features that are becoming increasingly important in the Android ecosystem.

The Galaxy M47 5G also features a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

At the heart of the Galaxy M47 5G is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, manufactured using a 4nm process. Samsung has equipped the device with a 6,000mAh battery. The device also supports 45W fast charging.

Gaming enthusiasts are likely to benefit from a feature known as Bypass Charging. Rather than charging the battery while gaming, the system can draw power directly from the charger, claiming to reduce heat generation.

For photography, Samsung has included a triple-camera setup led by a 50-megapixel primary sensor with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS). On the front, the phone features a 12-megapixel HDR selfie camera designed to improve image quality in challenging lighting conditions. Users will also be able to record video in 4K resolution, while Samsung's Nightography software aims to improve low-light photography.

On the software side, the Galaxy M47 5G will ship with One UI 8.5 based on Android 16. Samsung is promising six generations of Android operating system upgrades alongside six years of security updates, placing the device among the better-supported smartphones in its category.

The upcoming smartphone will also include several AI-powered capabilities, including Circle to Search and Google Gemini integration. Additional features such as Samsung Wallet support, on-device voicemail and security technologies including Knox Vault and Auto Blocker round out the package.

Samsung Galaxy M47: Price expectations

Samsung has not yet announced official pricing for the Galaxy M47 5G. However, considering the specifications and the positioning of previous Galaxy M-series devices, industry observers expect the smartphone to compete in the upper mid-range segment.

The inclusion of a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, a large AMOLED display, extended software support and AI-powered features suggests Samsung will position the device against offerings from rivals such as Xiaomi, Realme, iQOO and Nothing.

The Galaxy M47 5G will be available in Rogue Red and Blaze Blue colour options. With its emphasis on battery life, gaming features and long-term software updates, Samsung appears to be targeting young consumers seeking a feature-rich smartphone without stepping into flagship price territory.
