Qualcomm unveils Snapdragon C platform for affordable laptops from Acer, HP, Lenovo, and more

Qualcomm Technologies have announced the new Snapdragon C platform, an entry-tier processor designed to bring modern personal computing features to mainstream consumers, including students, families, and small businesses. The hardware platform targets entry-level laptops priced from around $300 and above, focusing on delivering a balance of power efficiency and affordability.

New platform for budget-conscious users

The new platform has been specifically designed for budget-conscious computing segments. By targeting the $300+ price bracket, Qualcomm aims to make functional personal computing more accessible for users seeking entry-level laptops for education, household use, and daily small business operations.

Qualcomm has confirmed that the kind of devices the new chip architecture is designed for will not qualify as Copilot+ PCs.

This means the platform either features an NPU that does not meet Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC requirements or supports less than 16 GB of RAM. Reports suggest these devices could ship with 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM, depending on the model.

The Snapdragon C platform will also not use Qualcomm’s Oryon CPU cores.
