Amazon's Echo Connect will connect to your landline and let you make voice calls to non-Alexa users

Amazon's surprise hardware event saw the launch of a host of new devices. This also included an Echo Connect box. This Connect box is meant to enable making voice calls and receiving them, even if there is a non-Alexa user on the other end.[caption id="attachment_4096571" align="alignleft" width="380"] Echo Connect. Amazon.com.[/caption]Unlike the previous mode of calling, where voice calls could be made from one Alexa user to another Alexa user. The same does not apply here.To make voice calls, the user has to connect their Echo device to Echo Connect. The Connect has two dedicated jacks. One is to connect the landline, the second is to connect an Echo device.Meanwhile, for those using their mobile phones, they have to sync their contacts using the Alexa app.This feature is available for most Echo devices including the Echo Dot, Echo, Echo Plus, Echo Spot, and Echo Show.Since the Connect allows a user to make calls to non-Alexa users, it gives a choice to make voice calls on international numbers as well. And the user's phone number will be displayed as caller ID.The Echo Connect is slated to be released on Amazon from 13 December onwards in the US. It is priced at $34.99 on Amazon.According to The Verge, the user has a choice to opt out from displaying their phone number to other users. If so, then it shows 'unknown caller' to the receiver.
