Apple is still weeks away from unveiling its next flagship smartphones, but reports have already painted a detailed picture of what buyers can expect from the iPhone 18 Pro lineup.

The company is widely expected to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max during its annual September launch event, with sales likely to begin shortly afterwards. While the overall design may remain familiar, the upcoming premium iPhones are tipped to receive notable upgrades in processing power, artificial intelligence features, photography and display technology. Indian consumers, however, may also have to prepare for a higher price tag.

iPhone 18 Pro: India price (leaked)

Industry reports suggest the iPhone 18 Pro could debut at around Rs 1,39,900 for the base storage model in India. If accurate, that would represent an increase of roughly Rs 5,000 over the starting price of the iPhone 17 Pro.

Higher-capacity variants are also expected to become more expensive. The 256GB version of the iPhone 18 Pro is rumoured to cost approximately Rs 1,44,900, while the flagship iPhone 18 Pro Max could reportedly start at around Rs 1,54,900.

The anticipated increase comes amid rising memory chip costs, driven largely by surging demand from companies investing heavily in artificial intelligence infrastructure. Apple has also revised Indian pricing for products including the iPad Air and MacBook Air in recent months, making a similar adjustment for its flagship smartphones appear increasingly likely.

iPhone 18 Pro is coming in September 2026: Specs and features

Design and display: Rather than introducing a dramatic redesign, Apple is reportedly focusing on improving the experience through performance and software enhancements.

The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to retain a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro Max could continue with a 6.9-inch screen. However, reports suggest Apple may shrink the Dynamic Island by as much as 35 per cent, allowing more usable screen space without increasing the physical size of either device.

Processor: The biggest hardware change is expected to arrive inside the phone. According to multiple reports, Apple will equip the Pro models with the new A20 Pro processor, manufactured using TSMC's advanced 2nm process. The next-generation chip is rumoured to deliver performance gains of up to 15 per cent while improving power efficiency by as much as 30 per cent compared with its predecessor.

iOS 27: Software is also expected to play a bigger role in this year's upgrade cycle. The new phones are likely to launch with iOS 27, bringing the latest version of Apple Intelligence to users from day one. Siri is reportedly in line for one of its most significant upgrades in years, while Apple is expected to introduce additional AI-powered capabilities during its September launch event. Early feedback on the public beta of iOS 27 has generally been positive, raising expectations ahead of the official release.

Camera: Apple may also introduce changes aimed at photography enthusiasts, although reports indicate these will be more evolutionary than revolutionary.

Instead of redesigning the camera system, the company is reportedly testing a manual variable-aperture mechanism for the primary camera. Such a feature would allow users to control the amount of light entering the sensor, offering greater flexibility when shooting in different lighting conditions and giving photographers more creative control over depth and exposure.

Battery: Battery life could also receive attention, although one rumoured improvement may be limited to a specific market. According to tipster Ice Universe, the Chinese version of the iPhone 18 Pro Max could feature a 5,500mAh battery, significantly larger than previous generations. Accommodating the larger battery may require a slightly thicker chassis measuring around 9mm, while the device could weigh approximately 240g.

None of these details have been officially confirmed by Apple, and specifications could change before launch. However, the growing number of reports suggests the company is prioritising meaningful refinements over radical design changes.

If the leaks prove accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro series will focus on faster performance, smarter AI features and improved photography, while asking buyers to pay a little more for Apple's latest flagship experience.
