With the expected September launch drawing closer, a steady stream of leaks from industry analysts and tipsters has offered what is arguably the clearest preview yet of Apple's next premium smartphones.

While none of the reported details have been confirmed by the company, several claims from reliable sources point towards an update focused less on dramatic redesigns and more on meaningful refinements. Battery capacity, display technology, photography features and processing power are all expected to receive upgrades, while buyers could also be facing one of the biggest price increases for a Pro iPhone in recent years.

iPhone 18 Pro leaked price

The biggest talking point may not be a new feature but the amount buyers could end up paying.

According to a recent reports, Apple is reportedly considering increasing the prices of both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max by as much as $200. Although the company has not confirmed any pricing plans, the report follows Apple's recent decision to raise the prices of certain iPad and MacBook models amid an ongoing memory chip shortage.

Industry watchers believe higher component costs, especially for advanced memory and next-generation silicon, could be contributing to the expected increase. If implemented, it would mark one of the most significant year-on-year price revisions for Apple's premium smartphones.

iPhone 18 Pro: What to expect

Design and display: Apple is expected to stick with the same screen sizes as the current generation, with the iPhone 18 Pro reportedly featuring a 6.3-inch display and the Pro Max retaining a 6.9-inch panel.

The visual changes could instead come from a redesigned front. Multiple leaks suggest the Dynamic Island may shrink considerably—by as much as 35 per cent—giving users more usable screen space without altering the overall dimensions of the phone.

Display technology may also receive an upgrade. Reports indicate Apple could adopt an improved LTPO+ panel designed to consume less power, helping extend battery life without compromising brightness or refresh rates.

On the outside, the Pro models are tipped to arrive in four new finishes: Dark Cherry, Light Blue, Silver and Dark Grey.

Meanwhile, tipster Ice Universe has claimed on Weibo that the Chinese version of the iPhone 18 Pro Max could house a 5,500mAh battery. If accurate, accommodating the larger cell may result in a thicker chassis measuring around 9mm, with the handset weighing close to 240g.

Chipset: Powering the new devices is expected to be Apple's A20 Pro processor, which is widely rumoured to be manufactured using TSMC's advanced 2nm process.

The move could deliver performance gains of up to 15 per cent while improving power efficiency by as much as 30 per cent compared with the previous generation.

Another reported change involves TSMC's Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module packaging technology. By positioning memory closer to the processor, Apple could reduce latency and improve responsiveness, particularly for Apple Intelligence features that rely on faster on-device processing.

iOS 27: The iPhone 18 Pro lineup is expected to debut with iOS 27 out of the box, bringing Apple's latest software experience alongside the new hardware.

Although Apple has yet to reveal all of the operating system's features, the tighter integration between iOS 27, Apple Intelligence and the A20 Pro chip is expected to improve AI-powered tasks, on-device processing and overall system efficiency. Any software-exclusive capabilities will likely be announced during Apple's official iPhone launch event.

Camera: Apple may not overhaul the rear camera hardware this year, but one notable addition could make a meaningful difference for photography enthusiasts.

Leaks suggest the company is testing a manual variable-aperture system for the primary camera. Unlike a fixed aperture, the feature would allow users to control how much light reaches the sensor, making it easier to adapt to different shooting conditions.

The technology could improve low-light photography while also giving users greater control over background blur, producing a more natural-looking bokeh effect without relying entirely on computational processing.

Taken together, the latest leaks suggest Apple is focusing on refinement rather than reinvention.
