Google search console's platform properties gives creators better visibility Into audience reach
Google Search Console is getting a new feature that lets creators track how Search users discover their social media content.

Google is set to give content creators and website owners a better understanding of how people discover their social media profiles and YouTube content through Search. With a new feature in Google Search Console called Platform Properties, Google says users will be able to "easily track which search terms lead people to your Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube content on Search" and better optimise their content based on how audiences interact with their posts, according to a recent blog post.
The new feature continues Google's push to make Search more of a hub for creators and publishers. The company has already introduced dedicated creator profiles in Search that can feature links to other platforms and showcase videos from TikTok and Instagram. With the latest update, creators will soon gain deeper insights into how users discover their content through Google Search.
"Content creators and publishers use many channels beyond their own websites to reach their audiences," Google said. "People gravitate towards first-hand perspectives and different content formats." The company added that it wants to make it easier for both website owners and creators—especially those without their own websites—to get a consolidated view of how all of their content is being discovered through Search.
