The event is expected to mark a significant shift in the company's foldable smartphone strategy, introducing an expanded lineup that reportedly includes its first Ultra-branded foldable device.

While Samsung has not revealed the products in advance, teasers released by the company strongly point towards the next generation of Galaxy foldables and a greater emphasis on Galaxy AI. Industry leaks suggest the company will move beyond its traditional book-style and clamshell foldables by introducing two distinct book-style models targeting different users.

The launch comes as competition in the foldable market intensifies, with several Android brands refining their designs and Apple widely expected to enter the segment in the near future. Samsung, which helped establish the consumer foldable category, appears to be responding with a broader portfolio and more differentiated hardware.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra

The biggest talking point is expected to be the debut of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which would become the first Ultra-branded foldable in Samsung's lineup.

Leaked renders suggest the handset closely resembles last year's Galaxy Z Fold 7, retaining a slim, vertically oriented design with a triple rear camera setup. Reports indicate the device could feature a 6.3-inch cover display and an 8-inch internal folding screen.

The camera system is tipped to include a 200MP primary sensor capable of delivering 2x "optical-quality" zoom through in-sensor cropping, accompanied by a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 10MP telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom. Both the external and internal displays are expected to house 10MP selfie cameras.

Powering the flagship is likely to be Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Elite for Galaxy processor, which Samsung has already confirmed for upcoming flagship devices.

Samsung is also expected to introduce a second book-style foldable simply called the Galaxy Z Fold 8, featuring a noticeably different design philosophy.

Unlike the taller Ultra model, leaked marketing material points to a shorter and wider form factor. Previous reports suggest the phone may include a 5.5-inch cover display paired with a 7.6-inch foldable inner screen, making it easier to operate one-handed and more comfortable to carry.

The rear camera system is expected to consist of two 50MP sensors—a primary and an ultrawide camera. While the main sensor is tipped to support 2x optical-quality zoom, the absence of a dedicated telephoto lens means there will be no true optical magnification. Both selfie cameras are expected to feature 10MP sensors.

Although Samsung has not confirmed battery specifications, leaked promotional material mentions up to 26 hours of video playback, aligning with earlier rumours of a 4,800mAh battery.

Interestingly, reports from South Korean publication ET News, citing industry sources, suggest Samsung is placing its biggest production bet on this model. Suppliers have reportedly been asked to manufacture around 2.8 million Galaxy Z Fold 8 units, compared with 2 million Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra devices and 1.5 million Galaxy Z Flip 8 smartphones, indicating Samsung expects the standard Fold 8 to attract the broadest audience.

The clamshell Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to receive more modest updates this year.

Leaked information suggests Samsung will largely retain the existing design, with expectations of a 4.1-inch cover display and a 6.9-inch foldable main screen. Camera hardware is tipped to include a 50MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP front-facing camera located on the inner display.

Battery capacity is expected to remain unchanged at 4,300mAh, matching its predecessor.

How much will they cost in India?

Samsung has yet to announce official pricing, but retailer listings spotted ahead of launch have offered an early indication of what buyers could expect internationally.

According to a listing briefly published by Portuguese retailer PCDiga and highlighted by tipster Roland Quandt, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 could start at EUR 1,349 for the 256GB variant and rise to EUR 1,549 for the 512GB model. Those prices translate to roughly Rs 1.48 lakh and Rs 1.71 lakh, although Portugal's 23 percent VAT makes direct comparisons difficult.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is reportedly expected in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage options, with leaked prices of EUR 2,069, EUR 2,269 and EUR 2,669 respectively—approximately Rs 2.28 lakh, Rs 2.50 lakh and Rs 2.94 lakh.

Meanwhile, the premium Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is tipped to command an additional EUR 200 across corresponding storage variants, taking expected prices to EUR 2,269, EUR 2,469 and EUR 2,869 (roughly Rs 2.50 lakh, Rs 2.72 lakh and Rs 3.16 lakh).
