Elon Musk is known for sharing his eccentric views on X every now and then, but his recent criticism of Christopher Nolan's upcoming film The Odyssey has left fans perplexed. Expressing his displeasure over the movie, Musk wrote, "Tom Holland is such a cuck."

The confusion stemmed from the fact that Tom Holland is both the name of an actor in the film—best known for portraying Spider-Man—and a historian whose review post Musk was responding to. The historian had shared The Guardian's positive review of the film.

"More praise for The Odyssey from people who – shockingly – have actually waited to see it before giving their opinion," Holland wrote on July 7.

Earlier the same day, he had also posted:

"Lots of people telling me The Odyssey is a terrible film on the basis of not having seen it… FWIW, I've now watched it twice, and it is by some way the best cinematic adaptation of a Greek myth I have ever seen. It honours Homer while simultaneously making something new of him."

"Leave it to Hollywood to destroy Western culture," one user commented, while another defended Holland, writing, "Dude, he's like 16 yrs old man. Lay off him."

Others questioned Musk's criticism, pointing out that he had not even seen the film."

Another user asked:

"Why's Elon just hating on everyone right now?"

Philadelphia-based real estate professional Tracy Herz also came to Holland's defence, writing:

"He is a very kind, smart and very nice person. His wife is a midwife. He has a good family. I know exactly which Tom Holland this is and I actually know him. Shame upon shame! Over a movie?"

Responding in a quote repost on X, the historian stood by his views on the film, writing:

"Very happy to say it again. The Odyssey is an amazing film, and missing out on seeing it because you think it's woke or whatever is cutting off your nose to spite your face. Your loss."

The classical historian, who has no relation to the film star in the movie, defended the movie on X, writing: "I've now watched it twice, and it is by some way the best cinematic adaptation of a Greek myth I have ever seen. It honours Homer while simultaneously making something new of him."

He isn't the only one praising Christopher Nolan's latest film. Entertainment critic Matt Neglia lauded its set pieces, calling them "a colossal achievement of scale, even by Nolan's standards." Meanwhile, David Ehrlich described the movie as "surprisingly natural" and "less despairing" than Oppenheimer
