Apple tipped to launch new iPad Pro models, entry-level MacBook Pro in early 2027

Apple is said to be preparing a major expansion of its Mac and iPad portfolio in the first half of 2027, with new reports suggesting the company is working on several premium tablets alongside a fresh addition to its MacBook range. The anticipated launches could mark one of Apple's busiest product refresh cycles in recent years, especially if they arrive alongside the company's next-generation in-house processor.

According to a Bloomberg report, Apple is developing four new iPad Pro models equipped with faster chips. The report also claims the company is working on a new entry-level MacBook Pro, internally codenamed K104, which would sit below the existing high-end Pro models while still carrying the MacBook Pro branding. The same release window is also expected to see the debut of Apple's M7 processor.

Apple plans to refresh iPad Pro and MacBook Pro line-up

If the reported roadmap materialises, Apple will be refreshing its flagship tablet lineup roughly a year after introducing the previous iPad Pro generation. The last iPad Pro models arrived in October last year, making an early 2027 update consistent with the company's typical hardware refresh cycle.

The new MacBook Pro, however, could represent a more notable shift. Apple introduced the MacBook Neo in March as a lower-cost laptop powered by the A18 chip originally developed for the iPhone. While that device was positioned as a budget-friendly option, Bloomberg reports that the upcoming model will be a true MacBook Pro rather than another Neo-branded product.

Although technical specifications remain under wraps, the laptop is expected to offer a more accessible entry point into the MacBook Pro family without replacing the company's premium configurations.

The report also indicates that Apple intends to introduce its M7 chip during the same period. If that happens, the company would move its Mac silicon roadmap forward while continuing its transition to increasingly powerful in-house processors across Macs and iPads.

The new devices would also arrive against the backdrop of rising hardware prices. Apple has recently increased prices on several products, citing supply chain challenges. One example is the MacBook Pro with 1TB of storage, whose starting price reportedly rose from $1,699 to $1,999.

Those increases have fuelled interest in more affordable Apple devices. A lower-priced MacBook Pro could help the company attract users seeking the Pro experience without paying flagship prices, while refreshed iPad Pro models would keep Apple's premium tablet lineup competitive.

iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 may also debut in 2027

The reported launches come as Apple is believed to be planning a wider wave of hardware announcements over the next year. Industry expectations already point to updates for the standard iPhone 18 and the iPhone Air 2 during the same broad timeframe. Separately, speculation surrounding Apple's long-rumoured foldable iPhone has continued to grow, although the company has not confirmed any such product.

Apple has not officially announced the reported devices and did not immediately respond to requests for comment, according to Bloomberg. As with all unannounced products, the reported launch plans remain subject to change before any official unveiling.

Even so, the first half of 2027 is increasingly shaping up to be an important period for Apple's hardware business. If the reported roadmap holds true, the company could simultaneously refresh its premium tablets, expand its MacBook lineup and usher in a new generation of Apple silicon, setting the stage for another significant year of product launches.
