Serena opens up on Wimbledon return plans after stunning comeback win: 'I'm tired of sitting at home'
Serena Williams has opened up on her plans for whether she will play at Wimbledon after making a winning return to competitive tennis nearly four years after her last match. The 23-time Grand Slam champion made the comments after reaching the quarter-finals of the Queen's Club Championships in London.

Serena Williams has kept tennis fans guessing over a possible Wimbledon return after making a winning comeback nearly four years after her last competitive match.
The 44-year-old American legend returned to professional tennis at the Queen's Club WTA event in London on Tuesday. Williams produced an impressive performance alongside her Canadian partner Victoria Mboko as they defeated Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Erin Routliffe in straight sets in Round of 16.
The victory immediately sparked speculation about whether Williams could make a surprise appearance at Wimbledon later this month. The former world number one has won seven singles titles at the All England Club and remains one of the most successful players in the tournament's history.
Williams on her Wimbledon plans
However, Williams refused to confirm her plans when asked about a possible Wimbledon return. “Like I said the other day, it's just a day at a time. I still have a little time to decide, and they have been great about giving me that space and time to decide,” Williams said after her comeback win.
The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion admitted she felt nervous before stepping onto the court and also rated her own performance. “My God. What do you think? A C-minus? I got nervous right before the match, like maybe 30 minutes before, and then I just let it go,” she said.
Talking about her return to competitive tennis, Williams said, "It was so much fun, it felt so natural playing with Vicky. I guess I've got nothing better to do, I'm tired of sitting at home, my kids are out of school this summer so why not?"
Williams never officially retired from tennis even though she bid an emotional farewell after losing to Ajla Tomljanovic in the third round of the US Open in September 2022. Now, she has returned to write a new chapter in her illustrious career, and a Wimbledon comeback would be the cherry on top.
Meanwhile, Williams and Mboko will next face Leylah Fernandez and Laura Siegemund in the quarter-finals of the Queen's Club Championships on Thursday.
