Indian national anthem echoes in Monaco again as Mahindra Racing driver wins e-prix: Watch
Monaco became a lucky track for Indian motorsport fans again as once again the national anthem was played at the iconic venue as India's Mahindra Racing's car won the Monaco E-Prix 2026.

In another proud moment for Indian motorsport fans, Mahindra Racing won the Monaco E-Prix 2026 as Dutch driver Nyck de Vries finished first in the tight and twisty streets of Monaco on Sunday.
This is de Vries' fifth FIA Formula E World Championship race victory while for Mahindra Racing, it is the first title in the GEN3 era. This is also the Dutch driver's first race win with Mahindra Racing.
The win led to India's national anthem being played in Monaco once again. Fans could not stop sharing their excitement over the victory and shared the videos of the 'Jana Gana Man' being played while the drivers were on podium.
The national anthems of the country of the winning driver and the constructor are both played after a race and that is why despite De Vries hailing from the Netherlands, the Indian national anthem was also played.
De Vries reaction after victory
De Vries. who started from the front row on Sunday, said it was an emotional victory for him because the start for his Mahindra Racing car was not the best one.
"The first one for Mahindra together. Itās been a great day, weāve had great pace, the car was amazing and the team executed the right calls at the right time. We had the right energy to push during the pit window and weāve won our first race together. A little bit emotional because itās been a pretty rough start, weāve been on the receiving end for a little while just shows you have to hang in there and better times will come," the Dutch driver said.
He recalled that when he joined the team, they finished at the penultimate position but last year, they improved.
āIn 2024, I joined the team and we were penultimate last. Last year we had a great year at P4 in the Teamsā Championship. We are obviously more ambitious than that so we are very happy to be with the team and I think the vibe in the team is great.
āTheoretically this was the perfect plan and it worked out well, but you have to do the job," he said after the win.
Monaco has turned out to be a lucky place for Indian motorsport fans as the Indian national anthem was played at the iconic track last year as well. India's Kush Maini had made history by winning the Formula 2 Sprint Race thus becoming the first Indian to win a race in Monaco.
